The Music Council of Ghana has met with the Charter House in Accra over the week. This was part of deliberations as part of the celebration of the International Music Day.
The meeting which was attended by representatives of the Music Council of Ghana and Executives of Charter House also gave the opportunity to the Council to formally introduce itself to Charter House.
The MCG which has already been endorsed as the umbrella of Music bodies in the Country has representatives from the Professional Musicians Association of Ghana (PROMAG) Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) Association of Music Rights Organization (AMRO) Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG) Veterans Musicians Association of Ghana (VEMAG) Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) were present at the meeting including the President of the Music Council of Ghana, Mr. Ekow Micah.
Speaking at the meeting on behalf of Charter House, Mrs. Hedwig Naa Tollow Guist reiterated their commitment to the MCG and expressed its readiness to work with all the other Music Associations.
King David of PROMAG also added that, the meeting has enhanced the understanding on the fact that MUSIGA is not the only music body in the Country and also not the mother body of musicians in the Country but rather the MCG.
In his statement, the President of MCG, Mr. Ekow Micah applauded Charter House for their contribution to the development of music industry over the years and called for a collaborative effort to improve upon the state of Music in the Country as they to work hand in hand.
He said less attention is being paid to hi-life music and Burger Hi-life and its high time we do away with Hip Hop in Ghana music industry so as to rekindle the time artistic and multicultural nature of our Ghanaian local music.
During the meeting all the representatives of the various music Associations were happy of the formation of the MCG.
However, the General Secretary of the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG) Mrs. Grace Watara said that, if there is any individual out there that thinks there is problem with the formation of the MCG, then that person should come out publicly than to be hiding behind doors and throwing stones.
The meeting deliberated on diverse developmental issues to promote the music industry.
