Shatta Wale’s team, Shatta Movement, won the maiden edition of the GH Celebrity Soccer tournament which came off at the Lizzys’s Sports Complex in Accra last Saturday.

The Shatta Movement team emerged the winners after beating Tinny’s Bardman Family 2-1 in the finals. Shatta Wale showed off his skills on the pitch by leading his team on a winning crusade when he scored the second goal that would send their rivals to take the second place.

Organised by Black Avenue Entertainment and Live Wire Events with partnership from YFM, the event had other teams, including Samini’s High Grade Family, D Black’s BAM United and R2Bees Nations teams, participating.

The other teams were Castro’s Baby Jet United Team, EL’s BBNZ Live Team, Davido’s HKN Gang team, 4Syte Rangers and Yfm All Stars.

It was all excitement and fun at the Lizzy’s Sports Complex when the spectators watched and cheered their favourite celebrity teams as they battled it out for the ultimate supremacy on the pitch.

At the beginning of the tournament, Samini’s High Grade team seemed to have the upper hand when they beat Castro’s Baby Jet United 2-0 in the first match.

4Syte TV All Stars also beat the visiting Davido’s HKN Gang team 3-0 in a game. But at the end of the fiercely contested games between the various teams, it was Shatta Movement team and the Bardman team that made it to the final where the latter was beaten.

R2Bee’s Nation team took the third place. Surprisingly, D’Black’s BAM team didn’t put up any impressive performance on the day even though they were sponsors.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic after the match, D Black said he was satisfied with the outcome of the tournament. He admitted his team’s abysmal performance and expressed his appreciation to his colleague artistes for the support in making the event a memorable one.

He said proceeds from the sale of tickets for the tournament would be donated to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Some celebrities who graced the event were Tiffany, Trigmatic, Chase, Peace Hyde; Choir Master of Praye fame, Beverly, Stay J, Gemini, Asamoah Gyan and Eddy Blay.
