Ace guitarist Ackah Blay has told Christian Agyei Frimpong on Channel R that it is good to be a musician but bad to be a Ghanaian musician.
Ackah Blay in an interview said, “there is a mafia in the system”. He continued that the Ghanaian music industry is just a name which exist but does not function.
“Structure is just a word which exist, but the things to make the structures work in our country are not available because of the mafia system. They think it will not favour them when it becomes successful”.
Ackah Blay who refused to mention names further said it will favor all Ghanaians when it becomes successful, but certain people do not want it to happen because of their own interest.
“If you are a good musician in Ghana, you’ve a big problem”. He stated that he will be happy to be a musician in the next generation but quickly added that not in Ghana because the “mafia system in the country will not allow people to hear my good works”.
