Dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla, known in showbiz as Stonebwoy has lamented the small number of concerts in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch of the 2018 Ghana Meets Naija concert, he said there are not many shows in Ghana, and that deprives Ghanaian artiste of getting more streams of income.
According to him, Ghana can only boast of just about five major music shows in a year.
“When you look through Ghanaian calendar, we find out that the number of top shows we can boast of only three or four or five. So if an artiste lives in Ghana and he needs to do these major shows, there it means it is not enough,” he said.
Stonebwoy added that if event organisers and stakeholders of the creative industry would create more concerts, it will go a long way to shore up the revenue Ghana generates from tourism.
“More of these shows should be held so that we can count about fifty shows in Ghana. This will improve our tourism and everyone would love to visit Ghana,” he noted.
Apart from shows organised by event companies, there are also others put together by media companies and individual artistes.
Citi FM organises Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO) in March, Decemba 2 Rememba in December; EIB Network has on its calendar the S-Concert while individual artistes like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Okyeame Kwame, Samini, also hold their own concerts.
