Top Hollywood actresses Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Hadish and Reginal Hall are expected to be in Ghana to film the sequel to the movie Girl Trip.
Co-writer of the 2017 movie, Tracy Oliver, has confirmed that a sequel is in development and would be shot on location in Ghana. Speaking to Variety at the Sundance Film Festival, Oliver said Girls Trip 2 is in development and would see the original cast return – this time for a trip to Afrochella in Ghana.
“It’s officially happening. I can say that,” Oliver said. “Everyone’s coming back. No one else knows this [and Girls Trip producer] Will Packer might kill me but we’re looking to set it in Ghana,” she added.
She said the movie will see the four girls take a trip to Ghana for Afrochella!
The movie is still some ways away as Oliver has yet to even submit a script but there is no question it is coming on and Ghana is for now the favourite location.
The first Girls Trip was a box office success and grossed $140 million worldwide on a ~$20 million budget. Malcolm D. Lee directed the comedy centred on four gal pals who take a trip to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.
