Veteran gospel singer, Diana Hopeson has condemned Christians who are in the habit of praying loud to disturb the peace of their neighbours to desist from the act since it conflicted the prayer life of Jesus Christ portrayed in the bible.

In a report by Classfmonline following an interview she had on N0.1 FM’s Live Worship programme yesterday, May 31, the former president of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is quoted to have said prayer is an intimate relationship with one and God.

“Scribes, Pharisees and others of Israel’s clergy who would wear long attention-seeking [religious] garments and pray in public [during the day’s busy activities] for everybody to see. Jesus would rather rise at dawn and go to a place where he would not disturb and rouse people’s attention.

“Prayer is intimate to you and your God. “Those of us who are in the habit of praying noisily to disturb the peace and quiet of others, let’s learn from this. It was not the habit of Jesus,” she is quoted to have said.

As a renowned gospel singer, Diana Hopeson’s contribution to the gospel music industry cannot be underrated.

Over the years, Diana Hopeson has churned out songs such as “Agyenkwa hene”, “Koso Aba”, “Onyame Ye Odomfo” and “Aseda”.

In 2021, Diana Hopeson was selected by BJ Sam the Nigerian international singer and producer to represent Ghana in the first universal Christmas music project with other global music icons including Hollywood Actor Paul Raci, Bollywood payback singer Jaspinder Narula, Swiss actress Christina Zurbrügg.

Her contributions to the Ghanaian Art industry won her a National Honors Award, which was presented to her by former president John Agyekum Kufuor in 2007.

In March 2021, Diana Hopeson was among the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music by the 3Music Awards Women's Brunch.
