Ghana will be hoping to make an impression in this year’s Rio Olympics when quartet Janet Amponsah, Gemma Acheampong, Beatrice Gyaman and Akua Obeng-Akrofi take their turn in the Women’s 4x100 event this afternoon.
The quartet will be hoping to make it to at least the semifinals after failed attempts by Ghana in other disciplines at this year’s multi-sports competition.
Janet Amponsah who is expected to start the race for Ghana in the relay event failed to qualify out of her heat in the women’s 200m event as she finished sixth of eight sprinters.
Ghana has already lost out in swimming, boxing, Judo, weightlifting and Javelin throw with the 4x100 relay team being the only hope left for the country.
