About six hundred (600) athletes would be competing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, for selection to participate in various international athletics events, to be held, this year.
These include the World Athletics Championship that comes off in August, in the United Kingdom (UK), and World Youth Athletics Championship to be hosted by Kenya, in July.
The Ghana Athletics Association, the organizers, is targeting athletes from the security agencies, Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) and young athletes from across the 10 regions.
Mr. Paul Tuffour, Ashanti Regional Athletics Coach, briefing the GNA Sports, said it had been scheduled for Saturday, April 15.
The athletes, he indicated, would compete in track and field events.
Those, who met the selection criteria, he said, would be representing the nation at the international competitions.
It is the third such event to be recently organized by the GAA not only to keep the athletes in perfect shape but to also whip up public enthusiasm in athletics.
The earlier ones were held in Greater Accra and the Northern Region
