Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor Exchange 'Shots' Over Alleged ‘Cartel’ Issues

Maybe Floyd Mayweather is angling for a rematch with Conor McGregor. Or maybe it’s just Floyd being Floyd.

Either way, the undefeated boxing superstar came out swinging at the UFC lightweight champion over Twitter on Wednesday.

The allegation alluded to in Mayweather’s tweet was a rumor which popped up back in late November, one which was vigorously denied by the McGregor camp.

Mayweather defeated McGregor via 10th-round TKO in a boxing match in Las Vegas in August. The matchup drew a reported 4.3 million North American pay-per-view buys, which made it the second-biggest PPV event of all-time.

I already fucked you up in 2017 now they about to fuck you up in 2018. You’re about to start your new year off with a bang

In recent weeks, UFC president Dana White claimed his company was holding talks with Mayweather about getting involved with the UFC. But Mayweather shot those claims down.

More recently, White laid out a plan in which the UFC will attempt to proceed with the lightweight division in 2018: Either McGregor fighting interim champion Tony Ferguson in March, or Ferguson facing top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, with the winner meeting McGregor over the summer.

McGregor’s coach, John Kavanaugh, said his camp is advising McGregor to make his next fight a mixed martial arts bout, rather than a return to the ring.

McGregor, who is not one to let such comments as Mayweather’s slide, didn’t take long before replying to Mayweather’s tweet, saying: I am the cartel.
