The Ghana under-17 National Hockey team has qualified for the Junior Olympic Games in Singapore in August this year. This came after their tremendous performance in the Africa Olympic Qualifier which ended on 27th of February in South Africa.
The Ghana male hockey team defeated their counterparts from South Africa by three goals to two on penalties after having drawn 2-2 in the 70 minutes of normal time and 20 minutes extra time.
With this performance, the Ghana male team gained the only slot to represent the entire African Continent in Singapore.
Meanwhile, the female under-17 team of Ghana beat their Zimbabwean counterpart by three goals to nil, thus winning the third position in the tournament.
