The Ghana Football Association is standing by Michael Essien after his club, Chelsea, today confirmed that he had suffered an injury. Chelsea, reported that the Ghanaian midfielder had injured his right knee during training this week and would be undergoing tests over the next few days to determine the extent of the injury.
"The GFA and Ghanaians express their sympathy to Michael Essien in this difficult time and remain hopeful that, further tests would not rule him out for long. "We stand by him and wish him a full and speedy recovery," an FA statement said.
"The GFA is going to follow his progress closely to have news of his recovery."
