Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), has urged the Senior National Team, Black Stars to make Ghana proud by winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with the conviction that the team has what it takes to conquer the world.

In a press statement copied to Peacefmonline.com, Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong asked all Ghanaians to unite and offer unflinching physical and spiritual support to the team to enable them lift the prestigious World Cup trophy.

He further tasked the Stars and the technical handlers to remain united and focused as a team with confidence and tactical discipline while approaching each game in the ongoing tournament. He added that the Black Stars should see each opponent surmountable without allowing any “big name” in the tournament to intimidate them but rather be full of hope, high in spirit and depend on God to win the trophy.

“In the 2006 and 2010 World Cups in Germany and South Africa respectively, the Team proved to the world that, it is capable of conquering the world by their progressive performance and we admonish them to make history by becoming the first African country to win the world cup.
We urge them to see each opponent surmountable and not allow any ‘big name’ in the tournament to intimidate them, but be full of hope, high in spirit and depend on God to win the trophy. The Council assures them of her continuous prayers in their quest for glory. We pray and hope that Ghana will stun the world, and win the world cup. We encourage the Team with these words from Deuteronomy 1:30 which reads, “The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes”. God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong in Jesus’ name”, he pontificated.

BECE Candidates

In a related development, the CCG General Secretary has wished candidates writing the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) the best in their examination, asking for God’s grace, understanding and wisdom for them.

Describing the BECE as an important part of the educational process, Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong admonished the students to be diligent, confident, discipline and abide by the rules and regulations governing the examination.

He entreated the various supervisors and invigilators to be humane towards the candidates and ensure that they abide by the laid down rules governing the examination.

“We also encourage parents, guardians and the teachers of these pupils to inspire in them hope, confidence and offer them the necessary support to enable them put in their best…..We assure the candidate of the prayers of the Council and urge them to put in their best and come out with the best results. We exhort them with these words from Jeremiah 29:11 which reads: “I know the thoughts that I think towards you, said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end’” he stated.
