The DCE for Aowin, Mr. Oscar Larbi, has lauded the efforts of ASP Ebenezer Ofori, the district crime officer, who has used football to curb crime in the Aowin District in the Western Region.
The police officer has for the past two years engaged the youth in a football competition which has successfully taken them off anti-social activities.
“ASP Ofori has used the magic of football to do wonders by engaging idle hands which would have been consumed by crime.
“He successfully organised the youth in the district and beyond with his creation of local teams in the communities”, he stressed.
With seven teams competiting in a non-league competition, the Aowin local league, a large pool of talented youth is emerging as potential national assets.
Mr. Larbi told Graphic Sports that he was thrilled by the good works of ASP Ofori and urged other police officers to emulate him.
“it is rare to see police officers whose duty it is to maintain peace and order come out with such innovation.
“Now the area is enjoying total peace and we all need to support ASP Ofori in this venture’, Oscar Larbi added.
The Aowin local league which began with three teams now has seven teams competing.
