Impressive wins has put Ghana in a good stead of reaching a second successive World Cup finals and with three more matches to go beginning next month, the South Africa dream would achieved. Lots of players would be jostling for places in the team and Dundee Uniteds Prince Buaben is one of such persons keen on holding out a place in the Ghana squad.
For him, this could be the biggest season of his life. The 21-year-old is hoping to help his club reach Europe by contributing with his performances in order win a place in Milovan Rajevacs Ghana selection plans. He said: "It would be absolutely amazing for me if I make it to the World Cup finals next summer.I've come such a long way in a short space of time and there are times when I have to almost pinch myself when I think of my career.
"It's every player's dream to play at such a huge event. "We had a game against Zambia in midweek which I was picked for but obviously I didn't go with the new season about to start. "We've got two qualification matches left. As things stand, we've got quite a good chance of qualifying and if we did it would be unbelievable. "I have to play as well as I can for my club and if I was to finish the season with South Africa to look forward to I couldn't ask for much more than that.
"It's a really big season for me coming up. I want to keep on improving personally and help Dundee United to as much success as possible. To achieve that, Buaben has set for himself some targets. "I want to consolidate my place in the team and, if possible, start scoring some more goals from midfield. "Michael Essien is a perfect example. I like the way he gets into the box in scoring positions so by watching him do that I think it can help me do the same."
The 21-year-old is a regular in Ghana's international squads and can look forward to making South Africa with justification as his country top their qualifying group. Buaben joined United on a free transfer two years ago after passport issues saw him lose his place in Ajax's academy.
