Sam Johnson has quit Accra Hearts of Oak calling his reappointment from assistant coach to the club’s youth team as a demotion.
The former Ghana international joined Hearts at the beginning of last season as assistant to Kosta Papic but was moved to the club’s nursery base at the end of the campaign.
But it is a job Johnson does not intend to do and told the Graphic Sports has quit all together. “I need something to enhance my CV and not a demotion,” he said.
Auroras, the junior side of Hearts has been key in providing some of the club’s biggest names but Johnson says it is poorly organised and not worth his time.
“I would have accepted the job but looking at the way the club is run, where there are no planned activities how do I handle such a team?”
Hearts are yet to confirm the departure of the man who played for them before going on to have a distinguished career with the Black Stars and various clubs in Europe including Fernabahce and Anderlecht.
