Ghana defender John Mensah has returned to the treatment room after picking up another a fresh injury making him a doubt for Sunderland's weekened Premier League encounter against Wigan.
Mensah sustained a new hamstring injury during Monday's League clash against Stoke City and has skipped training.
The central defender has been battling with injuries ever since he switched from French Ligue 1 side Lyon on loan in the summer.
He missed the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations because after another hamstring injury.
Mensah has started seven games overall, making a further two appearances off the bench and scoring once.
