Ghana youth international Rabiu Mohammed is line to be drafted into the Black Stars to replace injured Michael Essien, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.
The 20-year-old could be called up for next months international friendly against Nigeria and the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland in September.
GHANAsoccernet.com sources say the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup winner is regarded as a like-for-like replacement for the Chelsea ace who is out of action for six months.
Mohammed was rewarded with a three-year-deal this month by French Ligue 1 side Evian Thonon-Gaillard after impressing on loan last season.
He played for Ghanas Olympic team in the first leg 3-1 defeat to Nigeria in the All Africa Games qualifier.
