THIERRY HENRY was left fuming after red tape ruined his hopes of making a farewell appearance in an Arsenal shirt. The Gunners wanted their strike legend to play the last five minutes for them against his current club New York Red Bulls in their Emirates Cup friendly.
But ref Kevin Friend had to refuse permission because it is against FIFA rules for a player to appear for both clubs in the same game.
Gutted Henry said: "I wanted to do it and I'm sure the fans would have wanted to see it, but we were told at half-time it was not possible. Stupid rules."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: "Thierry was desperate to do it."
