In-form Sulley Muntari scored the first in AC Milans 2-0 win over Atalanta on Wednesday night to close the gap on leaders Juventus.
The Ghana internationals third goal in the Rosseneri shirt came in the ninth minute and was assisted by fellow Ghanaian Kevin-Prince Boateng as they both celebrated with gusto.
Brazillian Robinho made the points safe in added time after finishing off a rebound off a ferociously struck free kick by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Wednesdays win at the Stadio Guiseppe Meazza proved vital for the Rosseneri as they cut Juventus lead at the top of Serie-A to one after the Old Ladies 1-1 draw with Lecce.
The advantage in the title race however remains with Juventus who have a superior head-to-head record over Milan with two games left to go.
