CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO BEREKUM CHELSEA
On behalf of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), I would like to take this opportunity to join the people of Ghana in congratulating Berekum Chelsea for reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Your victory over CotonSport in Cameroon is an important achievement for our country because for the first time in six years a Ghanaian club has qualified for the group stage of the competition.
Following the goalless draw in the first-leg in Berekum two weeks ago some wrote off your chances but your victory in Garoua shows that where there is determination, will and commitment, there is success.
Your achievement will go a long way to re-energise Ghanaian clubs who participate in continental competitions in future.
Please convey to coach Hans Van der Pluym, captain Abdul Basit and the entire team our congratulations and we want to encourage them to go on and bring the title home.
On our part as the GFA we will continue to offer our support to your team as we have done since the competition started.
Once again I congratulate you on this wonderful moment and sincerely wish there is more to come.
