Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has debunked allegations from some sections of the media that the Black Stars during their three-week stay in South Africa spent some nights with call-girls at the team's hotel.

Some sports journalists who were in South Africa for the Africa Cup of Nation have reported that some senior players in the squad went contrary to the rules in camp. Most believed that was the cause for Ghana’s poor performance at the tournament.

Kwesi Nyantakyi rubbished the allegations and stated emphatically that, nothing of the sort happened in the camp where he was also lodging.

“We occupied two floors out of twelve floors of the hotel, and even before you will get to our floor, the security present was constricted. I don’t even sleep early because I wanted to be sure the players were respecting camp rules. By 11 o’clock every player was indoor. Those not sleeping were in the medical room receiving treatment,” he said.

“…There was no journalist lodging at our hotel. Some of them (journalists) were as far as 20 kilometers away from us (Black Stars team) so is it by magic or what powers that they got to know that the players were not asleep by 11 o’clock? I feel it’s a big lie these journalists are speculating,” he added.

“I think most of these reporters don’t have the fear of God in them so they (Journalists) always fabricate stories and because they have access to radio, they can just use it to destroy people like that. This is not fair at all. They must investigate the matter before coming out with their verdict,” he bewailed.
