Ex Head Coach of Dansoman based Liberty Professionals, J.E. Sarpong has send a strong warning to some assistant coaches in Ghana for their �Pull Him Down� (PHD) attitude to head coaches all in the name of favour.
According to coach Sarpong who has managed many local clubs, his contracts sometimes get terminated due what he terms as �Backbites� from his assistance coaches.
�It is true some of the assistant coaches are gossips. I have been in the profession for a very long time and sometimes when my contract is terminated, it�s not a nightmare, but from my assistant coaches who backbite for me to be sacked. How come that I will coach Olympics for six times if not backbites from the assistant coaches,� he said.
Speaking on Peace FMs PEACE POWER SPORTS, the veteran coach said instead of the successors to learn from their superiors they rather use the opportunity to backbite.
�The assistant coaches will not take time to learn on the job but will be backbiting so the job will be handled to them. They (the assistant coaches) will not learn. I (J.E Sarpong) still go to Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio to learn from him so I will improve on the profession. But some assistant coaches wouldn�t do that,� he said.
It is however unclear if the attack is directed at his former assistant coach at Liberty Professionals, George Lamptey who took over the job following his exit.
�Those assistant coaches know themselves. I cannot pinpoint whether my assistant coach at Liberty did the same thing to me, but who knows, sometimes you will not know until later on,� he clarified.
