Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng made an injury return just in time to play for Schalke 04 but he could not turn their fortunes as they suffered a 3-0 home loss to English giants Chelsea at the Veltins Arena on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old passed a late fitness test and trained with the Royal Blues squad on Monday.
With Schalke�s injury miseries compounding, manager Jens Keller welcomed the enforcer into his midfielder but they were unable to stand the might of the 2012 winners who recorded victory thanks to a double strike from Spanish hit-man Fernando Torres and Belgian Eden Hazard.
Boateng missed Schalke�s weekend nervy win over Eintracht Braunschweig.
