One hundred and twelve (112) teams will be doing battle for this season’s MTN FA Cup title when the competition kicks off early next month.
The launch and the inaugural draw of this year’s competition will be held at the Ghana FA headquarters in Accra on Thursday.
Teams from Ghana’s second and third tier – 48 each – will begin the first round of the knockout competition before the sixteen (16) Premier League teams join in at the Round of 64 stage.
This will be the first edition of the competition since telecommunication giants MTN decided to renew their sponsorship agreement with the Ghana FA for the FA Cup with a reported $3m package.
Details of the contract renewal are expected to be made official during Thursday’s launch and opening draw.
The competition which was revived three years ago after a 10-year absence has seen three different winners – providing further prove of its competitiveness.
