Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has become a father for the first time after his girlfriend gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
“Father for the first time. Thank you God.Welcome Jerome Frimpong,” the Arsenal star twitted.
Suffering a number of knee injuries has no doubt held his career back but his ability to make controversial comment on a regular basis has not endeared him to many Arsenal fans.
There are of course, others who see him as something of a cult figure though.
The out-of-favour 21-year-old sparked rumours of a race row when he tweeted: “Sometimes I wish I was white and English. #realtalk.”
While the midfielder did not specifically relate the view to football reasons, Frimpong’s tweet came after he responded to a fellow user asking if he was in the squad for tonight’s Capital One Cup tie against Chelsea by saying, “Lol, I wanna laugh.”
The initial tweets were eventually deleted by the midfielder, who later wrote: “Not every tweet is football related Goosh.”
Frimpong also warned his followers not to believe any reports suggesting that there was a race issue within the club.
