The Ghana captain has lauded the Nigerian striking sensation for his nice display in the ongoing Fifa Under-17 World Cup in the UAE.
Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan has hailed Nigerian teenager Taiwo Awoniyi after watching him in the 2013 Fifa Under-17 World Cup.
The Ghana captain was at the Khalifa Ben Zayed Stadium on Tuesday night to watch the Nigeria - Iran second round game in which the west Africans won by 4-1.
“I like him, that No18, Awoniyi, he is a good player,” Gyan told Fifa.com after the game. “He does all the work up there and creates a lot. This is my kind of player.”
The 16-year-old Imperial Academy forward will be the main man to watch once again in the semi-finals when the Super Eaglets lock horns with South American giants Uruguay.
