West Ham are reported to have made an approach to take former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan on loan from United Arab Emirates outfit Al Ain.
Gyan made 34 appearances for Sunderland, scoring 10 goals, but he has been playing in the UAE since September 2011.
West Ham have made no comment on claims they want to sign Gyan on a six-month loan deal in January, but sources close to the player have told Sky Sports News that an approach has been made.
Gyan, 28, has made 76 appearances for Ghana and had spells in Europe with Udinese, Modena and Rennes prior to joining Sunderland.
