Avram Grant describes Asamoah Gyan as "one of the greatest players" after his captain handed him his first win at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars captain scored a late winner to give Ghana a 1-0 win against Algeria on Friday, a win which puts them back in contention of advancing from the group.
"I have coached some of the great players - and he's one of the greatest," said Grant.
Gyan was restored to the starting line up after missing the opening defeat to Senegal due to poor health and his goal made the difference.
"Asamoah Gyan was not fit - he didn't train like he needed to - but he's Asamoah Gyan.
"First - he always scores when you need him, and he's good for the spirit of the team; he's a very good captain."
Ghana are second in Group C behind Senegal and play South Africa in the final game on Tuesday.
