Ghana winger Andre Ayew suffered his first Premier League debut with Swansea City after a ten-man Watford side stunned them 1-0 on Saturday.
Ayew had not tasted defeat with the Welsh side since the start of the season winning and drawing two games apiece – beating Manchester United and Newcastle United while drawing with Chelsea and Sunderland.
The 25-year-old who was named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month of August suffered his first defeat as a less fancied Watford side snatched a 1-0 victory at the Vicarage Road Stadium.
Nigeria forward Odion Ighalo pounced on a headed knockdown from Troy Deeney to fire in from eight yards and score the club’s first goal at home this campaign.
Ayew was hoping to crown his award with a sweet performance but his Swansea side were second best as Watford won the battle and scored their first goal in the English top-flight.
