The Queens, qualified for the championship after walloping their Tunisian counterparts by 6:1 on aggregate to make it to the tournament in Cameroon from November 19 to December 3, 2016.

In an exclusive interview with GNA Sports, head coach for the Queens, Yussif Basigi, who revealed the date said
“We will be going to camp on 7th September, at the Ghanaman soccer centre, to start serious preparions ahead of the championship.

“Before we start our endurance and conditioning the players will be screened and checked medically to get fit players to prepare well for the tournament,” he stated.

The confident coach Basigi, further noted that 25 players will be invited to camp, which will be a blend of young ones who have graduated from the under 20 team and the older ones.

“We are going to have some of the under 20 players, who played in the friendly with Germany on board to blend with the older players, some of the young lads are going to play in the world cup so I will have the ones that have passed the age bracket to compete for a place in the senior team.”

Coach Basigi who acknowledged that is early days yet have set his sights on the semis.

“We can only set a target when the team is in shape, but for now we can’t set a target that will seem we are over ambitious, we will be cautious until the players assemble to see their conditions.”

“But in any case we will like to get to the semis before we think of any other thing” he said.

Egypt, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ghana will join host Cameroon for the championship.
