A chief in Tamale, Dakpema Naa Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan has blamed the 0:0 result of the Black Stars’ game against Uganda on Friday, on the refusal of the Ghana team to consult the local chiefs.
Alhassan, who was speaking to Kasapa Sports shortly after the World Cup qualifier in Tamale said the leadership of the team went against the usual practice where the team ‘consulted’ them before games.
“They failed to do so,” he told Awuah. “In the past, they consulted us on some areas and we were able to rally support on all fronts for the team.”
Ghana started her World Cup campaign on a rather uninspiring note, struggling to beat the Cranes of Uganda.
In the other Group E match, Egypt beat DR Congo by 2 goals to 1 away from home.
The Black Stars have since arrived in South Africa ahead of an international friendly with the latter on Tuesday.
