The Villains former star has hit out at the Ghanaian following the stalemate against Birmingham City in the Second City derby on Sunday.

Former Aston Villa striker Stanley Victor Collymore has criticised Jordan Ayew and some other team-mates after the club shared the spoils 1-1 with Birmingham City in the Second City derby on Sunday.

Although, Ayew provided an assist as Gary Gardner’s header put the visitors ahead in the first half, David Davis fired home to level the scores for the hosts to cap off a wonderful display as they enjoyed 60 per cent of ball possession including 14 shots on target.

Ayew was later replaced with Gabriel Agbonlahor in the 81st minute.

"Will take a point but we were garbage [in the] second half," Collymore wrote on Twitter.

"Kodjia [and] Ayew [were] lightweight, Ross a passenger. Basic team possession [was] lacking," he added.

Despite the draw, Villa are now 15th on the log and just six points outside of the top six. They are also only four points outside the bottom four and have now gone four games unbeaten under new manager Steve Bruce, who replaced Roberto Di Matteo earlier this month.

Villa will host Blackburn Rovers next weekend before the international break.

Ayew joined the Championship side from French club Lorient in 2015, scoring seven goals to win the club's top scorer award, as Villa dropped from the Premier League.

Ayew has earned 37 caps for Ghana, and scored 12 goals.

The Black Stars coach Avram Grant will be counting on him ahead of next month's World Cup qualifying game against Egypt in Alexandria.
