Ex-Bayern Munich star Sammy Kuffour won a lot of admiration when he passed up the honour of unveiling of the 2017 African Footballer of the Year to legend Ibrahim Sunday.
Kuffour was selected to represent Ghanaian football legends at Monday's ceremony in Accra but he declined pleaded with the organizers to allow Sunday, a 1971 African footballer of the Year, to unveil the final three-man shortlist.
His gesture earned him more plaudits for paying respect to one of the gems to have played on the continent and won titles.
Sunday later told ghanaweb: ''Sammy is a very intelligent boy, he showed maturity and I am impressed. He is a legend himself but in this world, every father has a father so he did the right thing and asked me to unveil the players. I thank him very much,” Sunday said with a smile on his face.''
