Ghana forward Kevin Prince Boateng has been sharing his deepest regret as a footballer and believes he could have reach the levels of Cristiano Ronaldo if he had taken his career serious when he was young.
Boateng, who started his football at Hertha Berlin in the German capital insists he made some bad decision and did not have the right people to guide him as a young footballer.
The 31 year old left Germany at a young age to join Tottenham Hotspurs in England, but was unsuccessful at the club and was sent on loan at Borrussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, after several false starts to his career, he eventually exploded when he played for Portsmouth before earning a move to Italy.
The German born Ghana international now plays for Sassuolo, where he has already hit the ground running by scoring two goals in three games as the Novredi remains undefeated in the Serie A.
Boateng explains he made some poor decisions as a young player and that affected his career.
"The biggest stupidity was committed as a boy. I have not always behaved like a professional, "Boateng confessed to the 'Gazzetta dello Sport'.
The former AC Milan midfielder adds he could have reach the heights of a player like Cristiano Ronaldo if he had the right people around him.
"Ronaldo there is only one," he said. "I know that I was wrong so young because I was not serious and I did not have the right people around, unlike today. now looking back I feel I could have reached much higher , despite my good career".
