Maxwell Konadu, second Assistant Coach of the Black Stars has been discharged of his duties in the national team, head coach Kwesi Appiah has confirmed.
The confirmation follows reports rife in the local media earlier this year about the sack of coach Konadu.
Coach Konadu was noticeably absent from the team’s first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 qualifier against Kenya on Saturday.
Asked why he was absent from the training, Coach Kwesi Appiah replied that, the former Asante Kotoko coach was no longer part of the Black Stars technical team.
“He is not part of the technical team at the moment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Normalisation Committee (NC) said Konadu’s sack was part of a reshuffling exercise, the GFA NC was undertaking in the team.
“We are doing a reshuffle of the technical team, Maxwell has been affected. In the interim Coach Tanko and kwesi Appiah are in charge of the Black Stars. When we are done with the reshuffling the whole list would be made public,” he said.
