Inter Milan defender Kwadwo Asamoah has been named as the new Black Stars assistant captain.
Asamoah, 30, takes the mantle from Andre Ayew who has been elevated by coach Kwesi Appiah to the status of main captain.
The former Juventus player made his Black Stars debut in 2008 and played a key role as Ghana qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The versatile player took a break from the Black Stars after the 2014 World Cup but recently made himself available for selection again.
He has made 70 Black Stars appearances scoring four goals.
