Access Bank Ghana has confirmed Citi Business News� earlier report that the bank has appointed former Managing Director of GT Bank Ghana, Dolapo Ogundimu, for its Ghana subsidiary. This was contained in a press statement from the bank last Friday. According to Access Bank Ghana, the appointment is in line with the bank�s strategy to build a sustainable African bank that delivers value to all stakeholders. The new MD, Ogundimu, succeeds Yomi Akakpo, who had served as MD since 2010. Prior to his appointment, Ogundimu served as General Manager at Access Bank Plc where he supported the integration process with Intercontinental Bank Plc by overseeing key business development and marketing strategies. Mr. Ogundimu has a strong record in business combination, strategic planning, and relationship management and is known to have pioneered successful startups including Guarantee Trust Bank Ghana. Commenting on his appointment, he promised stakeholders of the bank that this period will be one of the most rewarding as the bank builds on its risk management and service excellence culture of Access Bank Plc. �These are exciting times for our customers and partners in Ghana as Access Bank�s growth and expansion strategy gains momentum through the merger with Intercontinental Bank. On his part, the Board Chairman of Access Bank Ghana, Herbert Wigwe, described Mr Ogundimu�s appointment as timely as the bank is hoping to be one of the big players in Ghana�s banking industry. �With his extensive knowledge of the regional banking terrain and experience in building successful African banks, Dolapo�s contribution will be critical in achieving our strategic objective to rank amongst the top five banks in Ghana�. Meanwhile, Citi Business News understands that the current Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Yomi Akakpo, and the acting Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank Ghana David Aluko have both been appointed as Board members of Access Bank.
