Education Ministry Slams Headmasters

The Education Ministry has slammed Heads of Senior High Schools for their inability to pay food suppliers, a situation that could force the schools to close down. The heads of schools have constantly raised concerns about the delay in releasing feeding grants and subsidies and say they may have to delay re-opening schools for the second term if the situation does not change. Series of interventional meetings have taken place to address the situation but spokesperson for the Education Ministry, Paul Krampah speaking on Breakfast XYZ said the members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) have not been innovative and proactive enough in raising capital from other sources to pay off their creditors. I am saying that some of them have not been proactive at all, they are not very exploitative, they are not very innovative, they need to do other things but they want free things so when there is a little heat then they cant manage their schools. But CHASS has described such claims as outrageous since efforts have been made to get the subsidies released only for government to provide excuses. President of CHASS for the Upper East region, Patrick Atanwire who has been vocal in projecting the severity of the situation in the region told XYZ News, that they have exhausted all options and if the grant does not come they will have no choice than to close down the schools. If the money does not come, the obvious will be to close down the schools because we cannot continue he said, adding that since the first term, they have given us just 30 percent and we are now in the second term about to complete.
