Drama Unfolds At Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

DRAMA UNFOLDED at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi recently when a patient receiving treatment at the place allegedly stole a mobile phone of a nurse who was treating his gunshot wound. The patient, whose name was not immediately known, hails from Sefwi in the Western Region. He was receiving treatment after he sustained a gunshot wound in the leg. Minutes after the said nurse had visited the C-3 Block to administer the day�s treatment to the patient, she discovered that her mobile phone was nowhere to be found. The nurse hurriedly raced back to the ward and announced that her mobile phone was missing after she visited the ward. She then appealed to anyone who had seen the phone to return it to her. A security man on duty at the ward was also informed about the case. The said security man, a source disclosed, then used his mobile phone to call the number of the missing mobile phone and the phone was heard ringing in the area where the �thief� patient was lying. Immediately, a search was mounted on him and the missing mobile phone was seen hidden under the clothes of the patient in a bag which was placed under his bed. During the search, another missing mobile phone belonging to another patient receiving treatment at the same ward was also seen, switched off and placed under the clothes of the �thief� patient. Also, a cash sum of GH�20 belonging to another patient which got missing some days earlier was found in his possession. The hospital authorities then decided to send the patient to the Kumasi Central Police Station for his arrest but upon arrival, the police personnel on duty refused to admit him to the cells on health grounds. The �thief� patient was then returned to the ward at KATH, where he is currently receiving treatment.
