Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) on Thursday held a meeting with the visiting Tunisian Trade Mission delegation in Accra to explore other avenues of engagement. It was also to strengthen the strategic partnership between Ghana and Tunisia to achieve economic and social benefits by creating new opportunities for trade, employment and improving business in Ghana. GNCCI is an association of business operators, firms and industries set up to promote commercial and industrial interests in Ghana. It has been in existence since the 1930's. The Chamber in its present form was established on November 8, 1961, following the amalgamation of four existing Chambers of Commerce. Mr Seth Adjei Baah, President of GNCCI, announced that in 2010, Ghana�s export to Tunisia was $22 million while imports from Tunisia amounted to approximately $19 million which represented 0.2 per cent of Ghana�s total import over the period. He said: "The economic and political stability in Ghana coupled with the improved environment for doing business offers great opportunity for all investors�. Mr Adjei Baah, said the Government was committed to support GNCCI to pursue any specific trade and investment endeavour between both countries. Mr Nejib Mellouli, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCICT) of Tunisia CCICT was willing to build a lasting relationship with GNCCI to strengthen fraternity links and economic exchanges of businessmen based on mutual interest. He said the sector was a qualified labour force for good quality delivery. CCICT was established in 1895.
