Zinedine Zidane Supports Kayaye Project In Ghana

Former Real Madrid and France star Zinedine Zidane is expected to visit Ghana in October to cut the sod for the Pamela Bridgewater Project, an educational village at Tampion in the Savlugu/Nanton District of the Northern Region. World Cup winner Zidane, who has been instrumental in the Qatar 2022 World Cup as an ambassador, is according to information gathered by this paper, eager to support the project which is aimed at curbing the migration of girls from northern parts of Ghana to the south to work as head porters, popularly called �kayaye�. It was also gathered that the zeal of the former world footballer of the year to support the project was through the instrumentality of another former France star Marcel Desailly, who is of Ghanaian origin. With regard to Zidane�s visit, Desailly noted: ��Zizou (Zidane) is my good friend and we have worked together on humanitarian projects. I will bring him to Ghana in October to continue his Qatar 2022 project in Ghana. He will cut the sod for the building of the village, which will represent the everlasting legacy of the (Qatar 2022) World Cup in Africa, and bring the benefit to our girls.�
