THE TAFO/PANKRONO District Police Command has declared one �Dzigbodi,� a known National Democratic Congress (NDC) man at Moshie Zongo in Kumasi, wanted with a GH�2,000 ransom on his head. The police have also been given the green light to shoot any heavily-armed hoodlum in the city that would try to foment trouble at registration centres in Kumasi. Kwesi Ofori, the District Commander, said the hoodlum had been identified by the police as the head of a group of gangsters that had been disrupting the registration process in Kumasi. They said Dzigbodi, believed to be stout, together with his cohort, known as Opooman, had been riding big motorbikes to registration centres in the city where they had been assaulting EC officials without justification and disrupting the process. During one of their illegal operations, Dzigbodi and his group of machomen, numbering about 20, destroyed the gadgets for the registration exercise before fleeing with the chip on the computer which contained all the key information about the national exercise. The swift intervention by the Tafo/Pankrono police on Monday and Tuesday afternoon prevented Dzigbodi and his group from attacking a group of about 317 EC officials collating the Manhyia Sub-Metro registration exercise for the last ten days. Superintendent Kwesi Ofori told DAILY GUIDE that Dzigbodi and his group always visited registration centres in the city and disrupted the whole process. He said on Tuesday afternoon, his outfit received a distress call that Dzigbodi and his men had attacked the Serwaa Nyarko School at Dichemso where the EC officials were working at the Manhyia Sub Metro registration area. The men, he said, managed to get to the walled compound of the school with their motorbikes and started damaging the computers and other accessories that the EC officials were using. The police chief said that he immediately led a group of armed policemen to the scene to arrest the ruffians, but they vanished. Superintendent Ofori said Dzigbodi and his group on Sunday afternoon attacked a registration centre at Tafo Ahenbronomu to disrupt the national process. The police, he noted, had decided to put the huge money on Dzigbodi�s head so that people would volunteer information leading to his arrest and allow the important national process to continue smoothly. The police officer said he had henceforth instructed his men to shoot any person or group of people that would storm registration centres with deadly weapons to injure people and destroy the process. Recounting what happened on Tuesday afternoon, Aaron Quarcoe, Registration Supervisor, Manhyia Sub-Metro, said about 317 EC officials were collating the information of 35 registration centres for the last ten days only to realize suddenly that Dzigbodi and his men had stormed the place around midday and started destroying their gadgets. He said the EC staff confronted the gangsters and the latter claimed that information reaching them indicated that �we were hiding at the school to register people illegally so they were coming to stop us�. Mr. Quarcoe said the police were called in but before they reached the scene, the hoodlums who were wielding deadly weapons had vanished into thin air.
