Biometric Cards For Fulanis At Bole

REPORT reaching DAILY GUIDE from Bole in the Northern region has it that aliens mainly Fulanis and Zamrama people from Niger are being registered in the ongoing biometric registration exercise. An assemblyman at Bole who could not stand the despicable development revealed to this paper that many foreigners and minors have been given the green light to register in the constituency under the watch of Electoral Commission (EC) officials. He has pleaded anonymity for now to avoid being harassed and intimidated by his own NDC colleagues who have been engaging in the unlawful act. The Bole assemblyman has therefore called on the Chairman of the EC and national security to move to the area and investigate the matter because the development poses a great threat to national security. According to the concerned assemblyman, functionaries of his own party and the MP of the area have allegedly been encouraging Fulani herdsmen and their families as well as the Zamrama people who are temporarily staying in the constituency to register. He noted that virtually all the EC officials in the area are in bed with the NDC and only take directives from the MP who he accused of allegedly allowing registration of the aliens and minors. The assemblyman further revealed that national service personnel and students in the district have been prevented from registering. He told the paper the service personnel and the students were turned away by the NDC polling agents simply because they bear Akan names and they think they would vote against the ruling party. The whistleblower further alleged that illegal miners popularly called galamsey operators at Bole who have come from the Upper West and East regions and reside in makeshift structures and tents in the area are rather allowed to register simply because they bear Muslim names. According to him, the situation in the constituency is so bad, adding that it is a disgrace to democracy because it is in direct contravention to the free and fair electoral process the nation is yearning for.
