Bolgatanga-Tamale Mamprusis Congratulate Bawumia

The Mamprusi community in Bolgatanga has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, for retaining Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate for the December elections. The 2008 NPP running mate was endorsed by the partys Council of elders at its last meeting. Several individuals and groupings have since congratulated Dr. Bawumia with the Mamprusi community in Bolgatanga and Tamale being the latest. The Spokesperson for the NPP Mamprusi youth wing in Bolgatanga, Seidu Gazeri Kamal read a statement on behalf of the elders and youth of the Mamprusi community: We the Mamprugu NPP youth wing in the Upper East Region wish to convey our sincere gratitude to Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party for the confidence reposed in Dr. Bawumia, a proud son of Mamprugu. The statement declared, We the Mamprugu NPP youth wing is solidly behind our brother Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in this 2012 elections; we are convinced that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a very big asset not only to Mamprugu but to the entire nation as a whole. It reaffirmed, We further wish to assure Nana Addo and the NPP of our preparedness to commit our resources to the NPPs struggle to capture power in 2012 and give hope to all Ghanaians; we also by this statement call on all Ghanaians most especially sons and daughters of Mamprugu living within and outside Mamprugu to register massively in this ongoing voter biometric exercise to effect massive change come December 7. Meanwhile, the Mamprusis in Tamale led by one of their opinion leaders, Edward Kodo Gumah have also congratulated Dr. Bawumia and pledge their support for the NPP in December. Mr. Gumah described the ticket as the best and pleaded with all those who lobbied for the running mate slot to rally behind Dr. Bawumia for a resounding victory in December. He observed that the party would not suffer much in marketing the ticket since it had already gained popularity in the 2008 elections. Seeing the NPP as the party that understands the hash socio-economic conditions of northerners, Mr. Gumah also made a passionate appeal to the northern electorates to vote massively for the NPP in December.
