No Plans To Summon IGP Before Parliament Yet - Ocquaye

The deputy Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Ocquaye has told XYZ News that his colleague MPs are yet to consider hurling before Parliament, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye over security measures being put in place to maintain law and order at various biometric registration centres. There are media reports that the Minority in parliament wants to take such an action following the skirmishes recorded at the Odododiodoo constituency between the NDC and NPP supporters. Professor Ocquaye said as it stands now, it has not become necessary to summon the IGP before parliament. He however added that such a move wont be out of place if the situation does not change anytime soon. It is not something that I can confirm because I have not taken any step in that direction. But it is possible, so far as Parliament is the representative body of the whole of Ghana any public officer can be invited on any public affair but that doesnt mean that there is a move towards inviting the IGP Prof. Ocquaye said. I have not taken that stance and it was not part of the press conference that I read a position but the real thing is that the Police must do their job irrespective of whoever is committing an offence He added.
