President Mills canvass for votes in Central Region

President John Evans Atta Mills on Friday interacted with the chiefs and people of the Central Region, and canvassed votes for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Election 2012 to enable the party to continue with its developments plans. He asked God�s blessing for the people and urged them to register massively in the biometric voters� registration to be able to exercise their franchise in the elections. President Mills, who was on a day�s working toured of the Region, visited his hometown Ekumfi Otuam, and went round some registration centres to assess the progress of the exercise. On reported cases of violence at some of the centres across the country, President Mills assured the people that Government had equipped, empowered and directed the security agencies to deal with trouble makers at the registration centres. At Cape Coast, President Mills paid a courtesy call on Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, the Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Council, elders, sub-chiefs at the Emintsemadze Palace. The President announced the implementation of some projects - nurses and teachers quarters, a clinic, among others, under the supervision of Dr Don Arthur, a Presidential Staffer at various places in Cape Coast. Osabarima Atta assured the President that his doors are always open and asked political leaders to be cautious of the pronouncements to keep the peace of the nation. President Mills had earlier made a stop over at Mankessim, and amidst a rousing welcome, paid a courtesy call on Nana Ama Amissah, the Queen. The President expressed appreciation to the Queen and the elders for the nice reception accorded him. At Nkamfua, President Mills inspected a quarters and clinic project, completed and awaiting inauguration. President Mills gave thanks to God for the achievements so far made, and urged the people to renew the mandate of the NDC to continue with the Better Ghana programme declaring, � This is just the beginning.� He visited and interacted with registration officials at the St Paul�s Catholic Church Registration Centre and later inspected progress of work on community centre building project at Amamoma. The President ended the tour with the inspection of work on the community centre at Kwaprow and a teachers bungalow at Nyinasin. President Mills has since returned to Accra.
