Accra Floods Again!

Flood-prone areas including Asylum Down, Caprice, Avenor and New Town were temporarily cut off making accessibility very difficult. Reports from Asylum Down say vehicular movements in the area were temporarily brought to a standstill as a result of the flooding on major roads in the area. A resident at Asylum Down, Kwame Mensah, attributed the floods to choked drains in the area. It is not only pathetic but an eye-sore to see the kinds of garbage that are thrown into the gutters in this area, Kwame Mensah lamented. At Caprice and Avenor the situation was not different from what had happened at Asylum Down. And around the Caprice area the floods have virtually taken over the Circle-Achimota Road, making it extremely difficult for motorists to ply the road. Some of the drivers fearing the worst had to park their car for the rains to subside. And as of the time of filing this report no human casualties have been recorded, but reports from Adabraka indicated that some residents in the area had had their properties damaged by the floods.
