Fulanis Have No Right To Register In Biometric Exercise - Obiri Yeboah

A Sociology Lecturer, Dr Nana Obiri Yeboah says nomadic Fulani herdsmen in Ghana shouldnt be allowed to register in the ongoing biometric voter registration exercise. Dr. Obiri Yeboah said allowing Fulanis to register will amount to inviting chaos into the registration process. The Nomads have had cause to complain that they are having difficulty registering because their nationality is challenged by the registration officers. Speaking to XYZ News, Dr. Obiri Yeboah said Fulanis cant consider themselves as Ghanaians and must not be allowed to register to vote. "Can I go to China and say that because they are voting, I am from Ghana so I want to register, if we cant do that there then why can they (Fulanis) do that here" Mr Obiri Yeboah queried". "They say it is for Ghanaians, can we do that in Niger as Ghanaians. If you are a Fulani and born here go to court and defend it" He added. Meanwhile, the national Fulani Chief, Alhaji Bingle has laughed off the assertion made by Dr. Obiri Yeboah. According to him, Fulanis are part of Ghanas history and have every right to take part in the electoral process.
