GII Join Calls For CHRAJ Boss To Quit GCB Post

Anti-graft body Ghana Integrity Initiative, the local arm of Transparency International has joined calls for the resignation of the Commissioner for the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) from the Board of the Ghana Commercial Bank. Lauretta Vivian Lamptey holds both positions which violate Article 221 of the 1992 constitution. The CHRAJ Act 456 also prohibits a commissioner from occupying any other public position once in office. An advocacy group, Center for National Affairs (CNA) has been mounting pressure on the CHRAJ Commissioner to either give up her job or face a court action. Executive Director of the local arm Transparency International speaking to XYZ News said Ms Lamptey must let go her membership of the GCB Board. Mr. Vitus Azeem said the CHRAJ Bosss actions are a blatant slap on the face of the constitution. Meanwhile, a senior policy analyst of the group that begun the advocacy, told XYZ News that Ms Lamptey had earlier given the group the indication that she will resign today. He added that the group will head to court if Ms Lamptey refuses to resign.
