Police Intercepts Vehicle With Weapons In Yendi

Peacefmonline can confirm that the police in Yendi in the Northern Region of Ghana have impounded a wine-coloured BMW saloon car with license number AS 5717 X said to be carrying arms. The vehicle, which was impounded on Tuesday at about 12 noon, had on board some ammunition including AK 47 assault rifles. According to reports, the driver of the vehicle tried evading the Police on their way from Tamale to Yendi but was hotly pursued by the Police. ��the occupants got out of the car and run into the Gagbini Electoral Area within the Yendi Township�.they tried entering the temporary palace with the car, but as the police stopped them the occupants took to their heels�The police managed to take the car to the police station and they got some AK47 ammunitions from the car and they have even deflated the tyres of the car at the police station,� the eye-witness said. The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Tuffuor, confirmed the news to Peacefmonline. �We have impounded a vehicle carrying some arms and the car has been taken to our station�one AK47 was retrieved from the car with a loaded magazine,� he said.
